These rounded and pointed arch-shaped earrings are inspired by the architecture of the Bamiléké palaces located in western Cameroon. The terracotta color recalls the red earth of this region rich in minerals.

Bandjoun is part of one of the many Bamileke kingdoms. The Bamilekes are said to have come from the Baladis of ancient Egypt and to have left the empire in the 9th century to settle in the Tikar region (present-day region of West Cameroon) in the 12th century.

The material used for this creation is polymer clay. Polymer clay (Fimo, Sculpey, Durcit,) is a plastisol, that is to say a liquid containing PVC particles. Thermosetting dough, it must be cooked so that the soft dough becomes solid.

These earrings are handmade by me.
